ASCE Technical Report "Resilience Engineering for Urban Tunnels" published

The Technical Report from the ASCE International Workshop on Resilience of Urban Tunnels, held in Reston, Virginia, September 1, 2016, has now been published - sponsored by the Infrastructure Resilience Division of ASCE. This report presents selected most recent developments on resilience engineering for urban tunnels as a part of the complex urban infrastructure system including transportation systems, such as metro transit networks, and it provides a basis for the development of a dynamic risk control and resilient design approach to urban tunnels. Further, it includes specific research recommendations on "Monitoring for Resiliency of Urban Tunnels", "Robust Monitoring and Maintenance for Durability" and "Resilience Engineering at System Scale". International research consortia were formed to work on these recommendation. The this year's follow up workshop was held in Leibniz University Hannover. The Institute for Risk and Reliability of LUH is leading this initiative in close collaboration with Tongji University, University of Maryland and the University of Liverpool, Institute for Risk and Uncertainty.
